This proposal concerns the remodelling of the facades and complete renovation of the reception and restaurant areas of the main building as well as the outdoor areas and swimming pool of the Hydra Beach Hotel complex in order to transform into a modern tourist accommodation, providing the necessary amenities to the modern traveller.
Regarding the building’s facades, with respect to the initial architectural design of a widely recognized architectural office, targeted interventions were made in order to maintain the original excellent design, while acquiring at the same time a modern and fresh character. In the welcome area, the reception was redesigned by choosing modern furniture and applying new clean-cut materials while the restaurant was designed from scratch, maintaining the different levels, while introducing new textures and restoring the exposed concrete look of the original design.
On the main building’s outdoor areas and specifically on the back facade, due to the need to create an outdoor covered siting area and swimming pool, a large metal structure was designed based on the principles of modernism, conceptually and literally expanding the interior living areas. This construction, through its sliding glass walls, provides the visitor with the possibility of direct contact with the element of water, while enjoying the sunset during the afternoon hours.
Finally, smaller interventions were made in the rooms’ corridors in order to meet the design of the main building’s corresponding interventions.
